The Culinary Arts Commission Launched "Our Culinary Legacy" Initiative

Today, Thursday, April 16, 2020, the Culinary Arts commission launched the 'Our Culinary Legacy' initiative to chronicle Saudi cooking recipes through digital or printed products, contribute to forming a database of Saudi cooking recipes, enriching the cultural content of local cuisine, and serving the culinary sector in the future. The initiative comes under the umbrella of "culture in isolation." It is the slogan designed by the Ministry of Culture to contain all cultural initiatives related to the preventive isolation period. Through its commission and affiliated entities, the Ministry offers various activities to invest in the period of preventive isolation for the benefit of multiple society segments. The Ministry has set conditions for participation in the 'Our Culinary legacy' initiative. The recipe must be distinguished by originality, and most of its components are from the local Saudi environment. The recipe's historical side must also be clarified, and the participants' moral rights in the initiative will be preserved. Participations submitted via the initiative's platform https://engage.moc.gov.sa/culinary the open call will start from April 16 until May 5, and the winners' announcement on May 26, the winning recipes will be documented and printed in a book, which will be added to the Saudi culinary library. The Culinary Arts Commission aims to document the traditional Saudi dishes through this initiative. To discover the local talents in the field, enhance the spirit of interaction among those interested in cooking traditional Saudi recipes, and motivate young ones to exchange traditional recipes with the generations that precede them.
