...

"Our Culinary Legacy" initiative completed its first week with comprehensive engagement among those passionate about local cuisine and wishing to document the famous traditional Saudi dishes. This initiative was organized by the Culinary Arts commission and launched by the CEO chef Myada Bader to the public, inviting them to document the Saudi cuisine to enhance the local dishes' written documentation. The initiative started receiving participation from various audiences via E- platform https://engage.moc.gov.sa/culinary. The participation included recipes from different regions around the Kingdom, documented by individuals and culinary arts producers while following the commission's conditions to participate in the initiative. The conditions are: the participating recipe consists of 60% of the local ingredients, with the necessity to mention the story or history of the dish, and the commission also stipulated determining the region to which the recipe belongs, if a specific person inspires the recipe, the person should be identified, whether from the family or the region, and indicate whether he or she is alive or dead, with a picture or video attached of the recipe if available. The initiative comes as part of the Culinary Arts commission's efforts to document Saudi dishes and achieve multiple cultural and social goals. Including documenting and preserving the recipes of the most important traditional dishes in Saudi culture and enhancing the spirit of interaction among the community interested in cooking traditional recipes, discovering the talents of local chefs that will, in return, enrich the cooking sector in the Kingdom. In addition to stimulating the young generations to share traditional Saudi recipes with previous generations. It is worth mentioning that the Culinary Arts commission, with its activities and initiatives, seeks to interpret the cultural advancement project's objectives, for which the Ministry of Culture is responsible. One of its items aims to invest and develop the local culture to the level where it becomes a lifestyle and actively contributes to the local economy by stimulating talents for cultural production, enabling them to reach and spread. The culinary arts as an economic and cultural activity converges with these goals and translates the aspirations of the Kingdom's 2030 vision in building an authentic Saudi culture proud of its ancient past and moves towards a prosperous future.
